Heart Disease and Stroke Prevention Program

The initial Heart Disease and Stroke Prevention Task Force meeting was held June 18, 2009, at Teen Scene in Magoffin County. The objective of the meeting was to form a cohesive and cooperative group in our tri-county area (Floyd, Magoffin, and Johnson) to look at how we take care of our people in regard to heart disease and stroke and how we can strategically work together to make a difference in the lives of our people. There are state level initiatives in place, and coordinating our local efforts with those statewide efforts already in progress should be beneficial to our people.

The Heart Disease and Stroke Prevention Task Force meet monthly. The main objective is to continue in the development of a regional partnership to determine the best approach to reduce the incidence of heart disease and stroke. For more information regarding the Heart Disease and Stroke Prevention Program, contact Kathy Borders, R.N., Program Coordinator, at Magoffin County Health Department, at 606-349-6212.
